SOME of Florida’s largest theme parks have had to close because the weather has got so cold.
Attractions including Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon, Universal Orlando’s Volcano Bay and SeaWorld’s Aquatica were closed yesterday and today because of the cold snap.
The temperature early yesterday in Orlando was 10 C and it was raining – not ideal swimsuit weather.
The pools at all Disney World Resort Hotels have also been closed because of the cold weather.
A handful of events have also been scrapped, including the Ferrytale Fireworks Dessert Cruise scheduled to take place tomorrow and the outdoor Disney’s Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.
The main theme parks are still open though and there water-based rides inside them are still running, but some are looking particularly empty.
One bemused tourist who goes by the name 100daysofdubo posted a picture of a completely empty street at Disney World’s Epcot park.
Large parts of America are currently suffering sub-zero temperatures but the weather has drifted unusually far south.
Florida is now experiencing some of its coldest temperatures in years.
While January is hardly peak season for tourists visiting Florida theme parks, they still receive tens of thousands of visitors every day.
